Professor aldenkamp was born on 27‑8‑1951 in Malang (Indonesia). He has the Dutch Nationality and is married (6 children). Professor Aldenkamp currently he holds the Chair of Epileptology of Maastricht University Medical Centre (department of Neurology) and is Head of the Epilepsy Research Group of the Research School Mental Health and Neurosciences (MHeNS) of the University of Maastricht. In addition is the Head of the Department of Behavioural Research and Psychological Services of the Epilepsy centre Kempenhaeghe (70 full-time staff members) and vice-chairman of the Research Institute of the institute and member of the central management team. He is currently the supervisor of 28 PhD students. In addition: Visiting Professor of Epileptology, Gent and Professor of Imaging, at the University of Technology in Eindhoven. Professor Aldenkamp is the Past Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Epileptology: SEIZURE since 2004, current co-editor-in-chief of Global Journal of NeuroEngineering and member of the Editorial Boards of 6 medical journals: Epilepsy and Behaviour, ActaNeurologicaScandinavica, Current Neuropharmacology, Clinical Neurology and neurosurgery, Current Pediatric Reviews and the Open Pediatric Medicine Journal. Professor Aldenkamp has published more than 310 publications (including chapters) and gave 444 international presentations.
